My (completely out-of-season) Creative Space

I'm curious, what is your favourite type of crafting?

Maybe it is a working with a particular medium - crochet, embroidery, sewing ... or perhaps it is crafting for a particular event, or even maybe crafting for your kids, or your home.

For me it is most definitely, well and truly, Christmas crafting.

I am obsessed with it.

No, I do not care that we have only just finished with May.  Not one teeny tiny skerrick.  For some reason, the thought of making cute decorations and stuff for Christmas leaves me all a tingle with much crafty delight.

In May I made...

an amigurumi snowman called Wallace.  He has a hat just like Wall out of Footrot Flats.  I loved Footrot Flats as a child, my dad was a bit of a collector, he has all the Footrot Flats, Asterix and Snoopy comics and many hours were spent reading them.

some crochet candy canes,

and some crochet snowflakes

In June I am planning on doing more... some cross stitch from some cute little pattern books I bought at the Quilt and Craft Fair, more crochet snowflakes (because there is no such thing as too many snowflakes in my house!) and maybe even an amigurumi reindeer to be friends with Wallace.

It honestly doesn't bother me that they only get to come out once a year, that just makes them even more special.

In the meantime though, as a little break from the festivity, I've been working on this lovely piece of sashiko that is hiding under my cross stitch iphone cover giveaway!

playing along...

Hey Mega, love your makes, Wallace it too sweet and a reindeer mate for him would be beyond cute.
The snowflakes are so delicate and fine, you must've used a very small hook to make them.....

The sashiko is looking very effective too....

My favourite craft would have to be sewing and throw in a dash of crochet too.....

Hi Megan,
Gorgeous Christmas decos and smart too. I have all these wonderful things bookmarked and pinned to make but the Christmas season is such a busy time that I never get to making. So Christmas making in June is a great idea I think. As for my fave kind of crafting...hmmm I am a bit of a dabbler really but I do like making things for the home and kids clothing.

I think it eminently sensible to craft Christmas things in Winter. I am always sad we can't give knitted/crochet items to be worn immediately at Christmas. Love your work!! The snowflakes are my favourite I think.

Aren't Christmas crafts wonderful! Wallace is so cute! I grew up loving Footrot Flats, too. My older brother used to collect the comics. I love your crochet snowflakes - they look so delicate and pretty.

Your snowman is really cute but I totally adore those snowflakes! I prefer anything with wool but I do rather like the meditative effect of sashiko stitching too, and it always looks so crisp and neat doesn't it :-)

Such cute creations! I've been wanting to try sashiko every since I saw it on someone's crafty blog a while back. Is it hard? Where did you get your piece from and will you be turning it into soemthing afterwards? I'd love to use a panel for a cushion of something like that...
